As an aircraft repair technician with Applied Aerodynamics in Farmers Branch, Texas, Dawson Fuller works on commercial and military aircraft. As a young man growing up in nearby Argyle, Texas, Dawson Fuller not only achieved the top Boy Scout rank of eagle scout but secured additional bronze, silver, and gold palms.
Scouts earn the bronze palm when they accumulate five merit badges beyond the 21 needed to secure the Eagle Scout designation. They can earn the gold palm by garnering 10 extra merit badges and the silver palm by garnering 15 extra merit badges. Only one out of 100 Eagle Scouts successfully earn all three of these available Eagle Scout palms.
The Boy Scouts of America requires scouts to complete the requirements for Eagle Scout palms before they turn 18 years of age. In the past, Eagle Scouts had to wait three months between the reception of each palm, which prohibited many young men from acquiring them. Since 2017, however, Eagle Scouts can receive two or three palms at the same time. If they secure the requisite merit badges before becoming an Eagle Scout, they can receive one or more palms along with the Eagle medal.
